Dear Arizona Soccer Club Families,

As with each of you, we're continuing to monitor and adjust to all that is going on relating to COVID-19. Here are the most recent related updates:

  • Governor Doug Ducey and State Superintendent of Public Instruction Kathy Hoffman announced statewide school closures through April 10, 2020.
  • Arizona Soccer Association (ASA) is extending the suspension of all soccer related activities through April 10, 2020. This includes any games, training sessions, or other organized activities.

Presidents Cup and State Cup

It's the intention of the ASA to host Presidents Cup and State Cup when it can be done safely for players, coaches, referees, and families. These events are qualifiers for US Youth Soccer Regional and National Championships. Presidents Cup Silver and Presidents Cup Gold for U11 and U12 will not begin April 3, and the earliest they can begin is April 17, if it can be done safely. All dates relating to roster freeze and online check-in will remain as previously communicated.

Academy and Competitive Tryouts

As of now, Academy and Competitive tryout dates will not change and will begin the first week of May. More information about tryouts will follow.

Grass Roots Recreational Soccer

Arizona Soccer Club GRP will continue, but will have a delayed start on the season. The following are the adjusted dates for the Spring Season:

  • Coaches Meeting Date: To be determined date after April 10
  • Practice Start: April 14
  • Game Dates: April 18, 25, May 2, 9, 16, and May 30, 2020 (no games on Memorial Day Weekend)

TOPSoccer

Assuming ASA resumes soccer activites on April 10, our TOPSoccer program will continue Tuesday, April 14.

What can players do during the break to keep their soccer skills up?

We recognize the impact that missed training sessions and games has on our young athletes, and let’s admit it… we all miss soccer. As such, we will be extending our Individual Player Training Program to all Arizona Soccer Club families (Competitive, Academy AND GRP). Let’s get players outside, while observing good social distancing practices, to continue their development. The Individual Player Training Program consists of a two week fitness plan, that is a mix of aerobic and anaerobic activities, and a two week technical program that has activities that should be done daily. These activities require little to no equipment. More details will be emailed out early next week.

Arizona Soccer Club is committed to doing everything possible to participate and host soccer events as soon as it is safe to do so. While these are very tough and confusing times, ASA and Arizona Soccer Club are committed to doing what is best for the community and will continue to assess the situation and provide communication about any changes.

We appreciate your continued support and understanding at this time.

Sincerely,

Chris Meador
President, Arizona Soccer Club
